Riding Mower Safety

Persons who may operate riding conventional and zero-turn mowers will demonstrate the required knowledge and skills of mower operating principles and procedures by receiving a: 1. Minimum score of 80% on a written test and 2. Satisfactory (S) rating on all critical performance steps and all but one non-critical performance steps on an onsite performance test: One non-critical performance step is allowed.
Course Description
This course prepares individuals to safely and effectively operate both conventional and zero-turn riding mowers. Participants will learn key operating principles, safety procedures, hazard recognition, and proper equipment handling in accordance with site and manufacturer requirements. Training includes classroom instruction, written assessment, and hands-on performance evaluation. To successfully complete the course, participants must achieve a minimum score of 80% on the written exam and earn a Satisfactory (S) rating on all critical performance steps, with no more than one non-critical step missed during the practical skills test. Upon completion, operators will be qualified to perform mowing tasks safely and competently.
