Participants will be able to PROMOTE proper recycling or disposal of certain common hazardous wastes; to REDUCE the volume of hazardous waste items in the municipal solid waste stream; to EASE regulatory burden on business; and to IMPROVE collection opportunities for communities and businesses.
Course Description
This course provides essential training on the proper handling, recycling, and disposal of universal waste – a category of hazardous waste that includes commonly generated items such as batteries, fluorescent lamps, pesticides, and mercury-containing equipment. Participants will learn how universal waste regulations help reduce the volume of hazardous materials in the municipal waste stream, ease compliance requirements for businesses, and support safe, community-friendly waste collection practices.
